    ICT Minister Meets Huawei Delegation to Discuss Cooperation in Telecom Services Development, Capacity Building

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with a delegation from Huawei, headed by Executive Director Ryan Ding. They discussed enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Huawei in a number of areas, including telecommunication and internet services development, capacity building, entrepreneurship promotion and data center establishment.

    During the meeting, Talaat stated that Huawei is a strategic partner of the Egyptian ICT sector, as there is current cooperation between MCIT affiliates and Huawei, in capacity building and entrepreneurship promotion programs. He underlined the significance of finding jobs for and hiring trainees of these programs.

    The ICT Minister also said that the training on developing the necessary skills for empowering freelancers, will be introduced to all MCIT technical training grants.

    For his part, Ding said that Huawei appreciates the strategic partnership with the Egyptian government, and the support received from MCIT. The company, in addition, looks forward to enhancing cooperation with the two sides, he added.

    The meeting discussed the cooperation between Huawei, Telecom Egypt (TE) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), in equipping an advanced technological innovation laboratory for computing and data analysis, in Sultan Hussein Kamel Palace innovation hub.

    Furthermore, the meeting followed up on the progress of work in the cooperation agreement signed between the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and Huawei, for training 10,000 persons in digital transformation technologies. About 3,000 trainees from different governorates, received the advanced training in these programs through interactive online training, with 1,000 receiving international certificates in digital transformation areas. The number of trainees receiving advanced training through interactive online training, is expected to reach over 5,000 before the end of this year.

    More than 300 trainers in different digital transformation areas, received training and accreditation, and have been deployed nationwide. The program, in addition, included training and assessing around 8,000 trainees, online.

    The meeting was joined by ITIDA Acting CEO Amr Mahfouz, TE CEO and Managing Director Adel Hamed, and NTI Director Iman Ashour.
