    ICT Minister Announces Opening 37 Post Offices in 16 Governorates after being Developed, Transformed into Integrated Postal Services Centers

    Cairo, 17 October 2020

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has announced the opening of 37 post offices, after being developed and transformed into integrated Postal Services Centers. Offices are in 16 governorates, including Giza, Alexandria, Fayoum, Luxor, Gharbia, Behera, Assiut, Minya, South Sinai, Sohag, Sharqia and New Valley.
     
    This was during the tour the ICT Minister took today, where he opened two centers, including the Postal Services Center - Khalid Ibn Al Walid, in El Zawia El Hamra, Cairo, and the Postal Services Center - Academy of Arts, in Giza. The offices were developed to provide integrated postal and community services.
     
    The Chairman of the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) Sherif Farouk accompanied the ICT Minister in his tour.
     
    Talaat stated that he directed Egypt Post to complete developing 780 post offices by the end of the current fiscal year, to reach 1,630 developed offices. He added that Egypt Post is one of the outlets for rendering Digital Egypt services to citizens, and a key pillar for supporting the state’s plans for achieving financial inclusion and building a digital economy.
     
    This comes within the framework of the plan of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), implemented by Egypt Post for providing excellent services more easily and conveniently to citizens who visit Postal Services Centers.
     
    Development work includes improving the infrastructure and ICT infrastructure at Postal Service Centers to accommodate new services, as well as installing insurance and digital calling systems.
     
    For his part, Farouk said that Egypt Post has been lately providing more government services through its offices. The number of 73 Postal Services Centers has been equipped and made ready to provide notarization services, thus easing access of citizens to such services. The services will be available soon through 109 postal service centers, in cooperation with the Real Estate Publicity Department, he added.
     
    The opening ceremony of the Postal Services Center - Academy of Arts, was attended by the Governor of Giza Ahmed Rashed, and the Head of the Actors Syndicate and President of the Academy of Arts Ashraf Zaki.
