    ICT Minister Opens ICT Projects in Kafr El-Sheikh, Witnesses Signing Cooperation Protocols

    The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady and the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh Sayyed Nasr have inaugurated a number of ICT projects and inspected the progress of others in Kafr El-Sheikh, where they also witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation protocols with the governorate, in the presence of the officials of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO), and the public and executive leaders in the governorate.

    Within the framework of developing government performance and administrative system in Kafr El-Sheikh governorate through the optimal ICT use, ElKady witnessed the signing of a cooperation protocol between Telecom Egypt (TE) and Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate through which TE will provide connectivity services between the governorate and its affiliates. These services include providing ADSL, High-speed Internet, Wi-Fi, while disseminating these services in the offices that offer services to the public. This is in addition to providing services of customer service centers, data centers and video conferencing.

    The protocol was signed by the Governor of Kafr El Sheikh Sayyed Nasr and TE CEO and Managing Director Ahmed El Behairy.

    In addition, ElKady witnessed signing a protocol of cooperation between MCIT and Kafr El-Sheikh in order to automate the work cycle within the Governorate general bureau and improve the system of services provided to citizens through the latest ICT methods and techniques such as the e-portal, complaint management system, automating the state property management using GIS, mobile phone applications for reporting violations, and displaying the key characteristics of the governorate, services provided and the places that provide these services. The duration of the protocol is three years, and the project is implemented by Egyptian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

    The protocol was signed by the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh Sayyed Nasr, and the Associate to Minister for Promoting MSEs Innovative Solutions to Governmental Sector Mohamed Saied.

    The ICT Minister also witnessed signing a protocol of cooperation between MCIT and Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate to support a number of integrated community technology centers to serve the people of the governorate and provide public services using ICTs. This in addition to providing services of training, capacity building, health and providing the tools necessary to integrate Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) into the society.

    Under this protocoló due to be implemented within two years at an estimated cost of three million Egyptian poundsó five integrated community technology centers will be equipped to train young people to use computers, provide technical support and programs required for integrating PwDs. This is in addition to providing specialized training and training for employment to develop the skills of the governorateís youth in technology.

    The protocol was signed by the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, and the ICT Ministerís Advisor for Social Responsibility and Services Abeer Shakweer.

    ElKady also opened a customer service and sales center for Kafr El-Sheik main central, in the presence of TE CEO and Managing Director Ahmed Al-Behairy. The ICT Minister will also inspect the progress, development and modernization of the Central, which serves more than 55,000 subscribers through 17 centrals (56% of the network is based on 68 MSAN cabins) which provides better customer service and capacity.

    Within the framework of TE plan to improve the efficiency of the infrastructure in the various governorates of Egypt and prepare for the transformation to an integrated communications operator, work is underway to develop and modernize the networks in 103 main and sub-centrals in Kafr El Sheikh governorate serving 121 thousand subscribers, where 36% of the network is based on 199 MSAN cabins, and 49% of data customers in Kafr El-Sheikh receive their services through MSAN cabins.

    In addition, ElKady and Nasr, accompanied by ENPO Chairman Essam El-Sageir, are opening a postal services center in Kafr El-Sheikh, within the framework of the strategic plan to develop post offices and turn them into integrated service centers that can provide all postal and financial services.

    The new center provides its services to customers through 14 windows, equipped with the state-of-the-art technology and advanced equipment. Staff was trained at the highest professional level to ensure the quality and efficiency of all services provided to citizens.

    The ICT Minister is also visiting Baltim customer service center and central to check the quality of services provided to citizens. The center provides its services through seven main and sub-centrals and 5% of the network is based on three MSAN cabins.
