Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister of Communications and Information Technology accompanied by Counselor Mahmoud Abu Elleil, Governor of Giza, inaugurated a new Information Technology Club (ITC) today in Giza. The Club, the 215th nationwide, is located within the Youth Employment Support (YES) Association branch in Imbaba, Giza.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) plans to help in establishing ITCs nationwide and reach the target of 300 Clubs by the end of 2001, of which 32 are located in the Governorate of Giza.
The primary function of the clubs is to address young people, including children with a message on IT and its role in shaping the life and relationships of all peoples, and in promoting creativity and competitiveness among the new generations. In this endeavor, MCIT collaborates closely with the Ministries of Youth, Higher Education, Culture, Education, and with NGOs, local governments and private-sector enterprises in the creation of the ITCs and in the dissemination of IT culture among all segments of the society.
During the inauguration ceremony, both officials and guests witnessed an informative presentation which highlighted the accomplishments and milestones of the project.
