The Botanical Gardens In Egypt Documentation (BGED) project focuses on documenting plants and animals in five important botanical gardens in Egypt: the Zoo, El-Orman, Zohriya, Qubba, and the Agricultural Museum Gardens.
Objectives
§ Document plants, animals and history of six botanical gardens beside the history of El-Zahraa stud farm, which is under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture
Future prospects
The process of documentation includes the following steps:
§ Conduct a complete survey, identify and make a checklist of plants found in five important botanical gardens found in Egypt (the Zoo, El-Orman, Zohriya, Qubba, and The Agricultural Museum Gardens)
§ Photograph all plants in the five gardens
§ Collect information about each plant
§ Scan the herbarium sheets in the Herbarium of the garden
§ Extract information from the scientific labels on the herbarium sheets
§ Edit captured images and scanned sheets and create a digital gallery for further usage of the images
§ Create a database to organize the captured images and scanned herbarium sheets with their information
§ Create a database for the races of horses in Egypt
