    Launched in 2000, Telecentres-Egypt project seeks to provide ICT tools for all citizens, especially in remote and marginalized areas and building an integrated knowledge-based society to provide ICT services for all segments of the society and raise the institutional efficiency of organizations, governmental and non-governmental entities. Telecentres-Egypt allows community members to keep pace with technology advancement of the new era.

    It is part of MCIT national plan to eradicate digital illiteracy in the society, cultivate skills of university and school graduates to qualify them for the job market, and offer Internet services to communicate with other parts of the world at reasonable prices.

    Hosted by civil society associations, youth clubs, Red Crescent associations, libraries, and governmental and non-governmental organizations, the number of telecentres surpassed 2000, distributed among strategic governorates; such as, North Sinai, the Red Sea, Aswan, New Valley and Marsa Matrouh.
