Decent Work for Youth Using ICTs

    Last Updated: 12 Jun 2018
Egypt Information and Communication Technology Trust Fund (ICT-TF) implemented the “Decent Work for Youth Using ICT in Qalyubeya" Project, funded by the German Cooperation, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The project is within the cooperation agreement between the European Union (EU), the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development and the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to overcoming unemployment and disguised unemployment problems and to raise the standard of living of Egyptian youth in urban areas in Qalyubeya, including Shubra el-Kheima, el-Khosoos, and Qalyoub.

This will be accomplished by identifying the basic characteristics and needs of the labor market related to vocational skills, especially information technology, in addition to the obstacles that impede the entry of youth into the labor market in this field. The project also aims at bridging the gap between young people working in the IT sector and providing decent jobs for young people in the labor market in the private sector.

    Objectives:
§ Conduct vocational training needs assessment
§ Enhance youth professional and vocational skills
§ Bridge the skills gap and reduce unemployment

    Status: ongoing
