    National Project for Integrated system of X-ray Transfer

    This project relies on the introduction of the picture archiving and communication system (PACS). This new medical imaging technology provides economical storage of images, allows its transmission and diffusion, and can be used with laptops to show x-rays to the specialist.

    This e-archive and retrieval system retrieve imagery in a short time compared to the traditional methods. Maintaining imagery for dozens of years, this system is considered a quantum leap enabling accurate diagnosis, medical consultations and remote treatment, which helps transfer expertise and allows early detection of diseases.

    § Early detection and prevention


    Achievements:

    The National PACS phase 1 was inaugurated in August 2012. A central database at the main center x-ray and local auto-synchronized databases in eight hospitals were established. 
    The project entailed eight hospitals and the main X-ray center of excellence in Fom El- Khalig region: General Khalifa, Specialized Sheikh-Zayed, East Alexandria, Sharm El-Sheikh, El-Alamein, Matrouh, Luxor and Hurgada hospitals.

    The project was classified among leading projects view its RIS applications according to the unified system of the hospitals part of the project.
    Statistics: The project cost reached 50 million EGP.
