Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development

The Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development (DT4SDE) project was established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in January 2002.

The project capitalizes on ICT potential in making a quantum leap in all development spheres, including livelihoods, social empowerment, education, awareness, and the environment.
The DT4SDE project seeks to promote socio-economic development in marginalized and underserved communities by employing ICT tools. This is in addition to empowering disadvantaged groups like women and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) socially and economically through providing capacity-building programs and promoting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Moreover, the project is particularly concerned with raising community awareness of societal issues like economic empowerment, women empowerment, e-citizenship, ICTs, climate change, and others.

The project builds on a wide network of partners and stakeholders, including government entities, international organizations, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector to ensure the sustainability of the development model.
