International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated every year on December 3. The annual observance of IDPD was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The aim is to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities (PwDs) in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of PwDs in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The theme for IDPD this year is “Leadership and participation of PwDs toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”
