Egypt Future Work is Digital

Egypt Future Work is Digital (Egypt FWD) is a fully-funded scholarship launched by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and powered by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The aim is to train young people on future skills and jobs through a virtual academy created and managed jointly by the public and private sectors.

Egypt FWD is part of ITIDA plan to reinforce Egypt’s position on the global ICT map and boost the country’s digital exports of ICT services and products. The initiative is also aimed at creating a wide range of job opportunities for young Egyptians through qualifying them to master online freelance jobs.

The initiative targets training 200,000 young people in advanced IT fields such as web applications, data science, and digital marketing. It features in-depth training courses designed and delivered in collaboration with major tech companies and available on Udacity, a leading Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) platform.

Egypt FWD follows a multitiered training model. The first level is the “Foundational” or the “Challenger” level; covering the basic knowledge and foundational skills. This level features courses in Web Development Foundations, Data Analysis Foundations, and Digital Marketing Foundations. The seven-week course includes five weeks of technical training and two weeks of digital freelancing training.

“Professional” is the second level; it focuses on specialty skills to start a digital career. Courses cover Frontend and Performance Testing, Web Development Professional, Digital Marketing Professional, Data Analysis Professional, and Professional Embedded Systems. Study is completed in eight weeks: seven weeks of technical training and one week of career enablement. This level prepares trainees for digital freelancing and employment markets.

The third level is “Advanced.” Trainees are equipped with advanced and deeper tech and professional skills in a number of fields, including Cloud Developer, Data Analysis Advanced, User Experience (UX) Design, Mobile and Backend Testing, and Marketing Analytics. The level lasts 12 weeks, 10 of which cover technical training, with two weeks of hands-on practice.

Cross-Skilling is the fourth level of training within Egypt FWD. Complementary knowledge in a relevant field is provided through this level, in addition to T-shaped skills. Training in this level lasts five weeks: four weeks of technical training and one week of career enablement. Trainees are qualified for digital freelancing and employment markets with career readiness services.

The highest and most advanced level is “Expert.” Learners receive in-depth training in highly-specialized areas such as Hybrid Cloud Engineer, Self-Driving Cars, Security Architect, Machine Learning Engineer, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer with UiPath. Training lasts 10-12 weeks.

The five levels cover a wide variety of training tracks in the most in-demand technology skills. Egypt FWD was designed to accommodate the largest number possible of trainees from different technical backgrounds.

Trainee, through the initiative, carry out technological projects that are then reviewed and evaluated by experts. Egypt FWD also provides online support webinars, professional industry mentors, interactive peer-to-peer community, continuous coaching, and job opportunities.
