AI Capacity Building Initiative
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Capacity Building Initiative is a national program for building capacity in AI within universities and developing professors’ skills in that field. Training of Trainers (ToT) courses are organized, and professors are provided educational material to integrate into curricula and teach to students. The aim is to increase AI literacy and raise awareness of AI tools and applications.

The initiative is implemented under five tripartite cooperation agreements signed in December 2021 by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) as the first party, Dell Technologies as the second, and Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), Cairo University, Ain Shams University, the American University in Cairo (AUC), and the German University in Cairo (GUC) as the third parties.

Objectives
-    Building AI capacity within universities
-    Bridging the gap between education and application in AI
-    Engaging the private sector in developing educational material in line with AI advancements and market requirements

Pillars
-    Developing three curricula in data collection, data science, and data engineering
-    Training professors and instructors on the curricula (120 training hours)
-    Organizing workshops for instructors and students
-    Teaching the curricula to students, with practice on some topics in line with Digital Egypt and national development strategies
-    Providing the opportunity for students to use a high-performance computer at the Applied Innovation Center (AIC) of MCIT
-    Organizing a hackathon among universities at the end of the program
