The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) was established in 1991 to maximize the effectiveness of Korea’s grant aid programs for developing countries.
The agency aims to provide assistance for the sustainable socioeconomic development of developing countries, to participate actively in alleviating poverty through the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, and to promote humanitarian assistance and human security.
The cooperation between MCIT and KOICA is based on exchanging experiences and exploring the best ways to support the development of human resources and economic and social infrastructure, in addition to advancing the ICT sector.
KOICA attaches very high priority to the ICT sector; it believes that the sector is a key driver for economic development. KOICA decided to explore the ways of using ICT in its development cooperation projects. In this regard, KOICA focuses on training, health and e-learning.
