Egypt maintains stable and excellent bilateral ties with the European countries that have always been supportive of the economic, social and political development in Egypt. For its part, Egypt has always been a key partner for European countries in issues of common interest, and is the focal point for dialogue between the North, South and the two Mediterranean halves.
MCIT is keen on deepening ties with European countries to leverage their experiences and competitive advantages, especially in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital transformation. It also seeks to develop partnerships between the Egyptian private sector and its European counterparts, especially in software development and capacity building. For this, MCIT has been working to enhance cooperation through strengthening the existing relations with European countries, and expanding areas of cooperation with new ones to serve the national ICT strategy.
MCIT relentless efforts in this area resulted in signing a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding with major European entities specialized in emerging technologies, as well as exchanging visits at ministerial and expert levels.
Furthermore, MCIT participates in joint bilateral committees, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. MCIT also addresses its European counterparts and their affiliates to draft proposals for cooperation, based on in-depth research, to achieve the maximum possible benefit. The aim is to fulfill Egypt’s priorities and MCIT various national initiatives for achieving the digital transformation and building the Egyptian citizen.
