Telecom Egypt Hosts First Egypt SubOptic Symposium

Telecom Egypt has hosted the First Egypt SubOptic Symposium, organized in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport at its headquarters in Smart Village. The event attracted international experts from different parts of the world who gathered to share their expertise. The Symposium was attended by students and graduates from the faculties of maritime transport and communications engineering.

Egypt Post Reports Impressive 21% Growth: Achieves EGP 4.4bn Budget Surplus in 2022-23

In the FY 2022-23 budget, Egypt Post successfully achieved a net surplus of EGP 4.422 billion, demonstrating a remarkable growth rate of 21% in both its net profits and total service revenue, reaching EGP 5 billion. This milestone is attributed to Egypt Post’s accomplishments over the past three years, which include fostering financial inclusion and digital transformation, improving the quality and diversity of services, and developing post offices, among other achievements.

Egypt Partakes in Seventh Government Roundtable for Middle East Region

Egypt, represented by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), participated in the Seventh Government Roundtable for the Middle East Region. The event was organized by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) in UAE, and RIPE Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) on November 21 in Dubai, under the theme “Cooperation for Digital Infrastructures and Sustainable Internet Policies in the Arab Region.”

Second Joint Government of Egypt, UN-JTDI Ideation Workshop Kicks off

The Second Joint Government of Egypt and the United Nations Joint Team for Digital Transformation and Innovation (UN-JTDI) Ideation Workshop on Technology and Innovation has kicked off. The workshop focuses on climate action and enhancing digital ecosystems under Egypt’s Nexus of Water, Food, and Energy (NWFE) Program. The opening ceremony of the workshop was attended by officials from the Ministry of International Cooperation, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Egypt, and representatives from the government, UN organizations, the private sector, and academia.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by the ICT Minister Amr Talaat, has visited Amazon Customer Service Center. He also inspected various global companies operating in Egypt, specializing in IT, engineering R&D offshoring, and outsourcing and professional services in Cairo Festival City Mall in New Cairo.

PM Opens, Inspects Outsourcing Companies

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has opened a global outsourcing company operating in 50 countries worldwide in many technology areas. Madbouly, accompanied by the ICT Minister Amr Talaat, also inspected major global companies in exporting IT and outsourcing services, in line with the national efforts to support and attract foreign direct investment in Egypt and develop the outsourcing industry and offshoring IT services.

NTRA Achieves Advanced Benchmark in Collaborative Regulation, Recognized by ITU

The National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has moved to an Advanced Benchmark of Fifth Generation Collaborative Regulation (G5 Benchmark) in telecommunications within the ICT Regulatory Tracker issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). This recognition underscores NTRA ability to leverage collaborative regulation as a tool to foster an integrated digital economy and create an effective regulatory environment for digital services.

ICT Sector Demonstrates Resilience, Attracts Substantial Investments amid Global Turmoil

The ICT sector has marked a significant achievement by attracting increased local and foreign investments in the last fiscal year. Its growth rate reached 16.3%, digital exports hit $4.9 billion, and investments in the startup ecosystem increased by 22%. These findings are reported in a report issued by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, which highlights key indicators of the economy, particularly in the face of current global challenges.
