Egypt Provides Incentives for Global Companies to Invest in Egypt

The ICT Minister has emphasized the state’s keenness to provide all facilities and incentives to global companies to attract foreign investments, as it creates a legislative and enabling environment in ICT. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) seeks to develop the ICT infrastructure, achieve Digital Egypt, and qualify and train youth on digital job opportunities.

AOI, NTRA Sign Cooperation Protocol to Indigenize Modern Technologies

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) and the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) on indigenizing modern technologies and local industry to foster technology development in different state sectors and support sustainable development plans in Egypt. The signing ceremony has been attended by the ICT Minister Amr Talaat.

Vodafone Egypt has rolled out an eco-friendly SIM card (Eco-SIM), made from recycled materials. ICT Minister Amr Talaat commended Vodafone’s initiative, which is in line with the government's efforts to attain sustainable development and protect the environment.

MCIT Strives to Strengthen Mobile Networks

The ICT Minister Amr Talaat has stated that 1,000 towers were established to strengthen mobile networks, during 2022. He pointed to the success stories of applying remote litigation and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) strategy, most notably achieving digital transformation in government services and creating digital job opportunities.

Egypt Invests EGP 130M in e-Signature Services

The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Amr Mahfouz has stated that the Agency invested EGP 55 million in the last three years to upgrade the operating systems of the Egyptian Root Certificate Authority (Root CA). ITIDA also allocated about EGP 75 million to establish an exchange site for the Root CA in the New Administrative Capital to meet the increasing demand for e-signature services.

MCIT, ERI Ink Cooperation Agreement

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Electronics Research Institute (ERI) on creating an e-waste management system as a proof of concept for establishing an electronics assembly, sorting, maintenance, and recycling facility.
