Nile Basin Ambassadors Visit Smart Village


Ministry of Communications and Information Technology invites African Ambassadors to a high- level meeting at the MCIT premises at Smart Village on the 11th of October, 2011.

This visit comes in light of the excellent relations Egypt and Nile Basin countries have and building on the strong existing bonds between both countries.

It also proves that Egypt, in its new era is keen to offer support to its African neighbors by all possible means to help in the advancement and development of our continent.

Before the meeting, the African ambassadors of Burundi, Democratic Congo, Eritrea, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will have a tour in the Smart Village. The tour includes visiting important entities in the ICT sector.

During the meeting, senior officials from MCIT will be presenting a comprehensive overview of the ICT sector focusing on the possible cooperation between Egypt and Nile Basin countries and the best way to move forward.

Organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC), this visit emphasizes Egypt’s ambitious initiative announced in 2010 in ICT where capacity building and training are employed as a vehicle for socio-economic development.  

The Smart Village suggested tour aims at giving a thorough overview on the latest developments of the ICT sector in Egypt with special emphasize on the planned cooperation within Nile Basin region.
