COP National Committee Meeting


The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) holds the second meeting of the National Committee for the Child Online Protection (COP) at the Ministry headquarters on July 14.

The first meeting took place with the presence of representatives of ministries of justice, interior affairs, media, education, higher education and a number of private sector companies.

Accordingly, five working groups were created for research and studies, education and capacity building, laws and legislation, technology solutions, and finally, awareness and media.

These meetings come within the framework of the MCIT interest in the information security and child online protection fields, by ensuring an ongoing communication between the concerned bodies. 

In this context, the Minister of Communications issued a decree to formulate a national committee concerned with the child online protection. This came as part of the Ministry’s vision to apply child online protection nationwide, through combining ministries’ efforts. The decree named a number of concerned bodies in order to reach out a national strategy facing the challenges and answering the needs of the society nationwide.
