Egypt Participates at International Youth Summit

Within the framework of the International Youth Summit BYND- san Jose/ Costa Rica during the period of 9-11 September 2013, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology  (MCIT) organizes a competition to choose 2 youth representatives to participate at the summit.

Young people around the world are to assemble at the International Youth Summit held in cooperation with the ITU with the aim of highlighting their priorities and capturing their combined voice in crucial national and international policy and decision making processes.
The event will focus on influencing the United Nations and civil Society engagement processes to prioritize ICT inclusion as the central pillar of the post 2015 development agenda.

The summit themes are quite diversified. Under the title “Change your World”, the first theme covers subjects of citizenship, governance and the UN post- 2015 process. “Stay safe” is the second theme and it covers the child online protection and cyber security.

The summit also deals with the climate change and sustainability under the theme “Respect your Environment”. 

“Get Ahead” is another theme focusing on entrepreneurship, employment and innovation. And finally, “Be Healthy” tackles the lifestyle awareness. 

Interested applicants of age between 18 to 25 with good communications skills and excellent English command - Spanish is an asset- can participate at the MCIT competition. Representing the ICT sector, participants should also have a sense of commitment and a vision about the future of youth in Egypt.

The targeted candidates should be either developers, ICT engineers, young entrepreneurs, community leaders whose work related to one of the themes of the summit.

Participants will present findings and ideas both at the summit and later in Egypt and help in disseminating new approaches in ICT and the development agenda.
