ITIDA, IBM Initiative Launches

The first phase of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the IBM initiative was launched today through which the latter provides its expertise to a number of 100 Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) in cloud computing.

IBM offers a bundle of training programs and special applications in this area. The initiative is in line with ITIDA strategy which seeks to support ISVs, thus increasing its competitiveness and accessing new markets, thereby strongly contribute to the growth of the Egyptian’s economy.

This initiative comes in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ITIDA and IBM during the PM visit to Smart Village last March.

As part of the agreement, IBM will also educate and train the participating software developers on how to develop and port their solutions to different IBM cloud computing platforms such as Softlayer infrastructure and Bluemix.

IBM will help deepen the technical and business expertise of the software companies through a series of workshops and mentoring. In 2013, IBM has inaugurated the first African research laboratory that uses massive data to find effective solution for pressing challenges in Africa, like energy, water, transport, agriculture and health care.
