Transform Africa Summit 2019 to Hold


The Transform Africa Summit (TAS) 2019 will be organized on May 14-17, in Kigali, Rwanda, under the theme “Boosting Africa’s Digital Economy”.

Following four successful editions, the fifth Summit is expected to bring together over 4,000 participants, including Heads of State and Government, first ladies, UN Broadband Commissioners, ministers, regulators, governors, public and private sector officials, international organizations, industry leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, young innovators, civil society and academia.

In addition to Smart Africa Leaders Summit, Smart Africa Women’s Summit and interactive plenaries, the summit will feature subject specific streams tackling current ICT topics. Delegates will be able to attend insightful and engaging streams including Hubs as well as several customized sessions by the Summit partners.

The first Transform Africa Summit was held in the Rwandan capital, Kigali, in October 2013, under the auspices and in the presence of the Rwandan President, in addition to the participation of seven other African Presidents of: Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Kenya, Southern Sudan, Uganda and Gabon. During that Summit, Smart Africa initiative was launched, aiming at using ICT tools to promote the economic and social development of the African continent and to meet the challenges of sustainable development in the African countries. Egypt joined Smart Africa initiative in November 2016. The accession was announced during the African symposium, held at Cairo ICT 2016.
