ICT-Trust Fund Partners Meet for Nuba Project

Egypt Information and Communication Technology Trust Fund (ICT-TF), jointly established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held today the second meeting with partners and civil society organizations for orientation and setting an action plan for Nuba development project at MCIT premises.

Under the slogan “Nuba, Generations Development”, the project activates the society participation and resources mobilization in order to achieve full sustainable development of Nuba.

The meeting is meant to set clear goals and create focal points inside the Nubian community. The meeting is to open new channels of cooperation and networking among partners, and identify new mechanisms and roles of each party in the project.

Among attendees were the development team and a number of representatives from partnering civil associations: Abu-Simbl, Kenouz Nubia, Women, social solidarity and orphans associations and Djassem Medical center.

ICT- Trust Fund focuses on developing marginalized areas. The idea of such an ambitious plan was first implemented in Siwa where a development project was undertaken in 2008.

Being a great success, the project won the Arab Gulf Program first prize in 2010. Therefore, ICT- Trust Fund intends to recreate the experience, this time, in Nuba.

The project is meant to achieve development through four pillars: entrepreneurship, education services, health care and women empowerment.
Strengthening socio-economic capacities in marginalized areas using best IT development practices, a new work methodology, duties and responsibilities are adopted in Nuba development project.

At the end of the meeting, a discussion was launched to exchange views and opinions of different Nuba associations and to answer all questions.
