Announcement of Internet Safety Contest Winners


Within the framework of the efforts of the National Committee for Child Online Safety, the results of the internet safety applications contest taking place among telecenters affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will be announced on 22 January at the Ministry’s premises.

The National Committee for Child Online Safety launched three contests during the Safer Internet Day in February 2014.

Celebrating the Safer Internet Day, MCIT organized a conference for this occasion, in cooperation with local and international ICT companies, for example: Vodafone- Egypt, Oracle, and Microsoft.

This comes in context of the stakeholders’ social responsibility of in the society and out of the State keenness to secure children and youth protection and raise awareness through the safe use of internet.

Contestants presented 40 e-applications till August 2014, in order to raise children awareness of internet risks. A number of experts and specialists evaluated the applications. Finally, five winners will receive awards next Thursday.

The National Committee for Child Online Safety was launched in June 2013, following the path of the national workgroup concerned with online safety, which was formed between October 2009 and January 2012, with the aim of activating a national strategy for protecting and empowering children online with the belief that empowerment is the key to online protection.
