PM Witnesses Signing LoI between MCIT, Gambian Counterpart

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has witnessed the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure of Gambia, on enhancing cooperation in ICTs.

The signing comes in the framework of the visit of the Gambian Minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure Ebrima Sillah to Egypt, heading a high-level delegation, to discuss strengthening ties between the two countries and exchanging experiences in ICTs.

This reflects Egypt’s keenness to support African countries, which is in line with its chairmanship of the African Union (AU) this year.

The two-year LoI includes cooperation in postal services, policies, regulatory tools, capacity building programs, digital transformation, e-commerce, technology parks, cybersecurity, and Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

The visit, also, witnessed cooperation between Egypt National Post Organization (ENPO) and its Gambian counterpart in providing support in Gambia’s geographical data. The two countries, in addition, agreed on enhancing cooperation and exchanging visits of officials and experts for discussing available opportunities and leveraging them.

Moreover, the Gambian Minister visited the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), established to assist people with special needs. He looks forward to sending PwDs from Gambia to Egypt to leverage the academy’s expertise.
