Innovation Camp to Support Young Social Entrepreneurs

The United Nations Development Programme in Egypt (UNDP) in partnership with the ICT Trust Fund, Industrial Modernization Centre (IMC) and Nile University is organizing a three-day hands-on learning “Startup Accelerator Camp” in Cairo, on October 17-19 to help Egyptian youth who are in need of technical support and expertise to improve and upgrade their business.

Fifteen startups delivering products or services that generate positive impact on the Egyptian society were chosen to participate in the workshop.

The teams revisited their products and services from a user perspective through the use of Design Thinking methodology on the first day, as well as focusing  on reviewing their business model and marketing strategy and was also introduced to the ‘Art of Pitching’ on the second day. Participating startups are expected to showcase their advancements and main findings of their work on the final day.

The best five proposals will be selected to join a two-week follow-up intensive phase during which they will be assigned tasks and will receive the support of the UNDP I4D team online. In November, there will be a final pitching session in Cairo where three of the top five startups will be given the opportunity to attend the First ASEAN Entrepreneurship Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
