Egypt is hosting the Radiocommunication Assembly 2019 (RA-19), organized by the Radiocommunication Sector at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-R) on October 21-25, at Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Center (SHICC), preceding the World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 (WRC-19).

The RA is convened every three to four years, to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the ITU-R. It provides the necessary technical bases for the work of WRCs and responds to all requests from WRCs.

The RA is authorized to adopt the working methods and procedures for the management of the ITU-R activities. It also considers the reports of study groups and approve, modify or reject the draft recommendations contained in those reports.

In addition, it groups questions of interest to developing countries, as far as possible, in order to facilitate their participation in the study of those questions; and gives advice on matters within its competence in response to requests from a WRC.
