Egypt, represented by the Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT), is participating in the 8th Regional Cybersecurity Summit on October 27-28, the 11th Annual Conference of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation – Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC-CERT) on October 29, and the 7th Regional Cyber Drill ALERT (Applied Learning for Emergency Response Teams) on October 30 – 31, in Muscat, Oman.
 
The 8th Regional Cyber Security Summit and the 7th Regional Cyber Drill ALERT are organized within the framework of the 2nd Regional Cybersecurity Week for the Arab Region, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Arab Regional Cybersecurity Centre (ARCC).

This year’s Summit theme is “Cybersecurity Revolution”. It will address technological advancements of the 4th Industrial Revolution, assess measures to mitigate threats in a connected ecosystem, discuss best practices while defining national and organizational cyber security policy and showcase breakthroughs in mitigating threats.

The OIC-CERT conference is a continuous initiative by the OIC-CERT to enhance cybersecurity and raise awareness through international cooperation among members and other information security organizations. It offers possible partnerships and collaboration pertaining to cybersecurity with the aim to maintain resilience in the cyberspace. It provides an information sharing platform on cybersecurity issues, enhancement of members’ effectiveness and efficiency through the improvement of technical and administrative capabilities in incident handling, and a channel to discuss strategic directions and future challenges.

The 7th Regional Cyber Drill ALERT is dedicated for National Arab CERT’s, private CERT’s and critical sectors security operation centers. It aims to improve communication and reduce incident response time of participating teams while ensuring seamless collective effort in mitigating cyber threats among the region’s national Computer Incident Response Teams (CIRTs).
