MCIT Partakes in Sixth Regional Consultation and Second Policy Dialogue in Middle East and North Africa


The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) is participating in the Regional Consultation 2016 “Sixth Regional Consultation and Second Policy Dialogue in Middle East and North Africa”, organized by the Child Helpline International (CHI), the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) and the League of Arab States (LAS) on February 15-17 at LAS headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

The agenda of the policy dialogue will cover some key relevant topics including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from children protection’s perception, violence against children, work of helplines to combat violence, national child protection systems and support of governments and telecommunications sector.

Moreover, the agenda of the Regional Consultation tackles summary and results of the Policy Dialogue, Principles Standards Practices (PSP) updates, the role of ICT to facilitate and support the work of child helplines and the work of child helplines amid ongoing conflicts. This is in addition to working sessions on ICT and child helplines within insecurity and conflict.

Representatives of agencies concerned with children and child helplines from the Member States, regional and international organizations concerned with children’s rights, academics at research institutions and the private sector will participate in the event.
