A delegation from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) will visit Uganda from September 24 to 28, to embark on the first steps to renovate the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) Project. The project aims to transform the Institute into an Egyptian-Ugandan regional center of excellence for human capacity-building in Uganda.
MCIT delegation will visit the Institute to answer the questions related to the details of the project to present them to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet, and take necessary procedures required for the final approval of financing the project. UICT project will be financed through the budget allocated to the National Initiative for the development of Nile Basin countries.
Egypt works with African partners like Uganda to overcome obstacles preventing social and economic prosperity. Coordination between the two parties was carried out to identify Ugandan needs to develop ICT, most important of which was the establishment of Uganda – CERT in 2014. Egypt and Uganda are interested in boosting cooperation in ICT infrastructure areas. Partnerships between Egypt and Uganda include areas of training, development and human capacity in ICT field.
