TIEC Launches EDAS Program New Round

The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) has launched a new round of the Electronic Design Automation Support (EDAS) program to subsidize availing EDA tools for startup, micro, small, and medium companies operating in designing and producing Printed Circuits Boards (PCBs) and Integrated Circuits (ICs). The deadline for the new round is November 30.

Participants of the three-year program, which started in 2015, should be local companies working in designing PCBs and ICs, and must be registered in the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) database. Companies approved in previous rounds are not eligible to apply in this round.

TIEC and the beneficiary company share the tool cost whereas the max subsidy paid by TIEC and its max subsidy percentage depend on the company categorization, whether startup, micro, small or medium. Beneficiary companies are determined through public competitive calls announced every two months where a specialized committee evaluates the applications and announces those accepted and those refused.

TIEC was launched in 2010 to stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship in the ICT field in Egypt. The Center aims to promote Egypt as a competitor in the field of global high added value innovations. It is the first center of its kind in Egypt, the second in Africa and the fourth in the Middle East and Africa region in terms of being a member accredited at the European Business and Innovation Centers Network (EBN).
