The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), is providing a training grant for students interested to participate in the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI) 2020. Preparation for the EOI starts with applying to join the training grant on the competition website, on July 8-23. EOI 2020 will be held, online, on August 30- September 5.
This comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol inked between MCIT and AASTMT for implementing the training for the Olympiad in Informatics programs, at national, regional and international levels.
The EOI is joined by a number of school students from different governorates. Out of the large number of applicants, the best 300 students are selected, after passing several assessments and trainings. Training then takes place in 10 governorates, from July 26 to August 20.
After training is concluded, only the top 100 students, who passed the final tests conducted on August 21-22, are selected to join the final competition, held on August 30- September 5. The best four winning students will be selected to represent Egypt and join the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), held on September 13-23.
The EOI was first held in 2003. A cooperation protocol was, later, inked between the Ministry of Education, MCIT and AASTMT to qualify young Egyptians in software and information technology areas.
