Winners of the 20th round of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) will be announced tomorrow, August 21st, during the closing ceremony of the competition.
Held under the auspices of Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak during the period from 16-23 August, the competition engages 320 contestants aged between 12–20 years from 77 countries, marking the highest ever participation in the history of IOI.
Each country participated in the contest with a 4-member team, all qualified and trained on IT skills. Egypt participated with two teams, a privilege given to the hosting country.
IOI closing ceremony will be held at Cairo Opera House. Alongside the competition’s proceedings, the eight-day event included entertainment activities, trips and tours inside Egypt's historical sites and cultural venues.
About IOI
IOI is an annual international informatics competition for youngsters in one of the member states in the International Informatics Committee. The competition tasks are of algorithmic nature. Contestants, however, have to show basic IT skills like problem analysis, designing algorithms and data structures, programming and testing.
