Minister Kamel to Inaugurate Mobile Money Summit during ITU Telecom Africa 2008


Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Tarek Kamel is inaugurating Mobile Money Summit 2008, organized by International Finance Corporation (IFC) and held on the sidelines of ITU Telecom Africa 2008, from 14-15 May, 2008.

Mobile Money Summit 2008 is designed for senior executives from financial services institutions, mobile network operators, development organizations, solutions vendors and regulatory and policy makers.

The event is expected to stimulate greater understanding and collaboration between all stakeholders - globally, regionally and locally and better equip participants to develop and deploy their own Mobile Money portfolio effectively, efficiently and at scale.

The summit will cover issues like means by which mobile money can drive top-line growth and customer value in both financial services and telecommunications and how financial inclusion for individuals, communities and countries, strategic, operational, regulatory and market challenges to effective deployment. 
About 200 high-profiled participants are expected to attend the two-day event.
