Gitex Dubai 2008 kicked off today with the participation of 50 Egyptian ICT companies sponsored by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA).
The CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Dr. Hazem Abdelazim is leading the Egyptian delegation that includes 20 exhibiting companies, 17 visiting ones in addition to the trade mission composed of another 13 companies to participate in the event due from October 19–23, 2008.
The Egyptian trade mission also involves representatives of Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) headed by Dr. Gamal Mohamed Ali.
The trade mission aims at promoting Egyptian companies in the Gulf market conforming to the strategy that targets a boost in Egypt's exports of ICT.
Dr. Abdelazim said the international event is likely to witness a strong presence of Egyptian companies presenting two workshops, one on e-government and another on e-learning.
He added that the distinguished Egyptian participation comes concurrently with launching "Branding Egypt", an international promotional campaign for Egypt's ICT sector, the “Enterprise Capacity Building Program" and the "Companies Database."
Vice ITIDA President Ms. Zeinab Zaki pointed out that the purpose of the campaign "Branding Egypt" is to serve the strategy targeting a boost in the Egyptian ICT products and services exports. The campaign coordinates with Egyptian companies taking part in exhibitions and international trade missions so as to integrate and harmonize the intended message and targeted objectives, she added.
On his part, SECC Chairman Dr. Gamal Mohamed Ali said the center gained world knowledge and experience in the field over the past years to help support the Egyptian ICT sector to acquire the quality standard certificates that qualifies it to effectively compete in international markets.
Dr. Ali noted that Gitex Dubai represents an ideal opportunity for introducing the SECC and the services it offers to the Gulf especially that several major Arab countries and governmental institutions showed interest in cooperating with the center and benefiting from its expertise.
Gitex Dubai 2008 this year will witness the "Gitex Technology Week." Gitex Technology Week Global Conference organized by Dubai World Trade Centre will once again take centre stage and provide an unparalleled series of strategic keynotes, seminars and dynamic networking sessions providing participants with the opportunity to learn from, and exchange views with, some of the leading experts within the ICT industry.
