ICT4CCDA Nominated for WSIS Prizes 2021


The ICT for Comprehensive Community Development in Agriculture (ICT4CCDA) project of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has been nominated for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2021, under Category 18 — AL C11: International and regional cooperation.
 
The project was launched by the Central Department for Community Development at MCIT, with partners including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment, the National Research Center, the Sudanese Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), KariaNet project of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the International Development Research Center (IDRC).
 
The overall goal of ICT4CCDA is to contribute to strengthening the agricultural knowledge eco-system in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by leading and moderating the generation and management of credible, integrated and specialized knowledge portals and agricultural ICT-based services that increase food production and income.
 
The WSIS Prizes contest was developed in response to requests from WSIS stakeholders to create an effective mechanism to evaluate projects and activities that harness the power of ICTs to advance sustainable development. Since its inception, WSIS Prizes contest has attracted more than 300,000 stakeholders.
 
The winning projects will be announced at the WSIS Prize 2021 Ceremony during WSIS Forum 2021, held on May 17-21.
 
Voting for WSIS Prizes 2021 is open to everyone, by maximum March 31.
