MCIT Partakes in UNCT Retreat

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated, online, in the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) Retreat, held on March 31- April 1, in Egypt.

The Retreat aims to reflect on COVID-19 impact, response and lessons learnt; agree on the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023-27 Roadmap; and position the UN development system as a trusted partner of choice to the Government on top agenda items: Climate Change, Digitalization, Financing for Development.

In this context, the Deputy Minister for Institutional Development Ghada Labib participated and delivered a speech in a strategic dialogue on Digitalization, under the title “Role of the UN Development System as a key player in advancing the Digitalization agenda,” on April 1.

This is in addition to identifying emerging opportunities from the Common Country Analysis (CCA) for joined-up UN work, mapping them against flagship government programs; and zooming into team dynamics for building a cohesive and high performing UNCT.

UNCT is an inter-agency body which consists of the UN Head of Agencies, Funds and Programs in Egypt. Under the leadership of the Resident Coordinator, the UNCT provides overall leadership to the work of agencies in the country. It serves as a platform for individual agencies to formulate common positions on strategic issues, ensure coherence in action and advocacy, and to plan and deliver work together. The UNCT also partners closely with the government and other humanitarian and development actors.
