MCIT Organizes Qualifier to Form IOI Egyptian Team

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), is organizing a qualifier to select the members of the Egyptian team that will participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), organized by Singapore, online, in June.

The qualifier is in two phases; the first was held online, on April 8 and 10, including students who participated in the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI) in previous years. 180 students applied for the qualifier, 25 of which were qualified in this phase.

Phase two will be organized at AASTMT premises, on April 16 and 17. It will include the students qualified in phase one, the top four of which will represent Egypt at IOI after receiving an intensive training to be qualified for the competition.

It is worth mentioning that MCIT, the Ministry of Education and AASTMT signed a protocol of cooperation to carry out training programs on the local, regional and international Olympiad in informatics. The aim is to qualify and develop the skills of Egyptian youth in programming and IT.
