ICT Minister Witnesses Signing Protocol between Cairo Governorate, Egypt Post to Disburse Compensation for Ring Road Expansion through Post Offices

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has witnessed the signing of a protocol of cooperation between Cairo Governorate and the Egyptian National Post Organization (ENPO) to facilitate the disbursement of financial compensation to the citizens who inhabit the buildings to be removed for the expansion of the Ring Road through post offices at full value without any deductions.

The protocol was signed by the Governor of Cairo Khaled Abdel Aal and the ENPO Chairman Sherif Farouk.

The ICT Minister Amr Talaat underlined that several projects are being implemented through the close cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), its affiliates and Cairo Governorate. He pointed out that the protocol is a proactive step towards the achievement of digital transformation and financial inclusion and that under this protocol there will be a close cooperation between Cairo Governorate and Egypt Post that will enable the citizens who occupy the buildings to be removed for the expansion of the Ring Road to receive their financial dues from Cairo Governorate through accounts opened for them at the ENPO and to disburse their financial compensation through the digital banking means provided by Egypt Post. Talaat also highlighted that Cairo Governorate is the first governorate to sign such a protocol, which creates an incentive to provide other digital services and a package of financial inclusion services to the Egyptian citizens.

The Governor of Cairo Abdel Aal stated that the protocol comes within the framework of cooperation between the MCIT and Cairo Governorate, pointing out that it will contribute to providing important services to the governorate’s citizens and employees through a digital system. He also commended the efforts exerted by the MCIT to promote the use of ICT in service delivery and its continuous support for Cairo Governorate.

The ENPO Chairman Sherif Farouk also stressed that the protocol allows Egypt Post to disburse the financial compensation to the citizens affected by the expansion of the Ring Road in Cairo as approved by Cairo Governorate through post offices. This will contribute to facilitating the procedures for citizens and delivering services with the required quality, drawing on the enormous capacities of Egypt Post, including its robust infrastructure and wide geographical spread to ensure that all services are provided to citizens with the required efficiency. He also pointed out that the decided financial dues will be disbursed to beneficiaries at full value without any deductions or commissions through creating a current account for each beneficiary according to the data received from Cairo governorate without the need for the beneficiary to come in person to the post office. Once the account is fed with the value of compensation, citizens can easily withdraw the decided amounts immediately.
