Egypt Hosts World AI Show 2021

Egypt is hosting the 25th global edition of the World Artificial Intelligence (AI) Show, organized by Trescon Global, on May 31, online, in collaboration with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), and under the patronage of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).

Under the theme “Nurturing the AI ecosystem in Egypt,” the World AI Show will explore Egypt's AI market, in light of the country’s digital transformation journey, and look into applying AI strategies to overcome the challenges imposed by COVID-19. This is in addition to discussing the creation of a proper system and an enabling environment conducive to the incubation and growth of early-stage tech enterprises.

The event agenda includes presentations, workshops and sessions where the latest inventions and AI solutions will be showcased. This is in addition to panel discussions for entrepreneurs and innovators to network and engage with experts.

The event brings together top experts in fields including IT, AI and Machine Learning (ML), senior executives and consultants. Officials from MCIT will also participate to present the National AI Strategy and shed light on the developmental role of AI across various sectors, on social and economic levels.

Egypt’s hosting of the World AI Show comes in light of the unprecedented prevalence of electronic transactions, and the huge national efforts for achieving digital transformation. It also reflects MCIT keenness to implement Digital Egypt strategy, capitalizing on state-of-the-art technologies, most notably AI, in different e-transactions.

It is worth noting that Egypt has achieved remarkable progress in the field of AI; the country holds advanced rankings in global AI indices. In addition, the Egyptian government attaches great importance to AI, represented in the huge efforts made by MCIT to expand the adoption of emerging technologies and develop the ICT infrastructure, in addition to creating the legislative and legal environment governing the uses of AI, which involved issuing the Personal Data Protection Law that regulates the relationship between data owners and users.
