The Egyptian team won two silver medals and a bronze in the 15th Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO), hosted by Indonesia. The closing ceremony was held, online, on May 26. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt has participated in the APIO 2021 for the first time.
The APIO is an IOI-like competition for delegations within the Asian and Western Pacific regions. The first competition was organized by the Australian IOI team in 2007.
The participants competed online in their own places. A number of 852 contestants, representing 35 countries, have participated in the 15th APIO, including China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Iran, Russia and India, in addition to many other countries.
APIO 2021 is organized by IA TOKI. IA TOKI is an association of former medalists of Indonesian National Olympiad in Informatics. It consists of university students, professionals, and educators. APIO 2021 is supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia.
