MCIT, GIZ Co-organize Workshop for Managers of Digital Transformation Units of Entities Relocating to New Administrative Capital

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Cairo, has organized a workshop for the managers of Information Systems and Digital Transformation Units to discuss the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which contributes to achieving operational excellence and ensuring the sustainability of digital transformation work.

The workshop has been organized in light of launching the Academy of Supporting Information Systems and Digital Transformation Units, by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, to build the capabilities of those units’ employees nationwide.

The workshop aimed to study and set the SOP at the ministries and entities participating in the workshop to come out with a clear, specific and optimal SOP manual for those units, by studying work procedures, exploring the visions and proposals of employees and managers of these units, and clarifying the procedural guide for the operational processes. The workshop has been attended by representatives of 19 ministries and entities moving to the New Administrative Capital, in addition to representatives from the Institutional Development, Information Infrastructure, and infrastructure Sectors at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

In her speech at the opening of the workshop, the Deputy Minister for Institutional Development Ghada Labib ascertained that the government's move to the New Administrative Capital is a real declaration of the New Republic. It aims to achieve a qualitative leap in government performance, to become a participatory digital government that is less dependent on paper, through the digitization of work cycles and the development of its methods using specialized and participatory applications that will be followed in government work, while digitizing one billion government circulating documents. She stated that providing the necessary technical support to the units of information systems and digital transformation is within MCIT mandates and missions, in light of Decree No. 87 of 2019 of the Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA).

MCIT has developed a plan to provide technical support to Information Systems and Digital Transformation Units, with a focus on ministries and entities relocating to the New Administrative Capital as a priority through a number of measures, including creating an operational structure for the units; organizing development and capacity building programs, launching the Academy of Supporting Information Systems and Digital Transformation Units; and developing an SOP manual for those units.
