ITU Opens Call for Digital World 2021 Awards

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has opened the call for its Digital World 2021 Awards, with the aim to promote digital innovation by Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) around the world.

The Awards aim to recognize the most promising technological innovations with real-world social impact, hone SMEs pitching skills, provide sustainable solutions, help make key connections, foster investment, and provide valuable United Nations (UN) recognition.

Targeting SMEs worldwide, the Awards seek out ICT-related solutions in five categories: Connectivity, Smart Cities, E-health, Digital Finance and EdTech.

The whole presentation and selection process will take place online. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to pitch live online to an expert jury of investors and innovation, business and technology specialists, with winners to be announced in an online awards ceremony at the end of the year.

Each winner will receive UN recognition as an ICT for Development (ICT4D) provider, online visibility and a certificate of achievement.

In the meantime, all applicants will be invited to join the ITU SME Programme, which consists of capacity building master classes, skill workshops, and mentorship and networking opportunities.

The call for applications closes on September 3. To apply, kindly click here.
