MCIT Holds Workshop for Heads of Digital Transformation Units of Entities Relocating to New Administrative Capital

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has held the periodic meeting for executives and staff at the information systems and digital transformation units of the entities relocating to the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by officials from MCIT and executives from the digital transformation units of about 42 ministries and government entities.

The meeting is one in a series of activities organized by the Digital Transformation Academy that was launched by the ICT Minister Amr Talaat, on May 27, 2021, during his meeting with the units heads. The Academy aims to provide technical support to staff and executives at the information systems and digital transformation units in the state’s administrative apparatus, with a focus on the ministries and entities relocating to the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting addressed Egypt’s digital transformation strategy, which aims to reach a participatory, interconnected and sustainable digital citizen-centric government. The meeting also highlighted the enabling role that MCIT plays to serve citizens, and its efforts to render electronic, paperless services and ensure providing high-quality services through multiple channels.

The Academy plans to hold more interactive meetings and workshops on the digital transformation technologies and Digital Egypt systems. The upcoming meetings will address the cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, as well as the ICT infrastructure, in parallel with carrying out digital capacity building programs for employees of the administrative apparatus, in ministries, governorates and government entities.

MCIT developed a plan to provide technical support to the target units, with mainly focusing on the ministries and entities relocating to the New Administrative Capital. Support is provided through a number of measures, including creating an operational structure for the units; organizing programs, workshops and meetings to build general and specialized capabilities; launching the Digital Transformation Academy; and developing a manual for the units operations.
