Egypt Partakes in ITU TDAG-WG-RDTP 7th Meeting



Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is remotely participating in the Seventh Meeting of the Telecommunication Development Advisory Group (TDAG) Working Group on the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) Resolutions, Declaration and Thematic Priorities (TDAG-WG-RDTP). The meeting is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), on September 15-16, in Brasilia, Brazil.
 
TDAG-WG-RDTP and its terms of reference were approved during TDAG virtual meetings held on June 2-5, 2020 (TDAG-20) and on June 16, 2020 (TDAG-20/2).
 
The Working Group terms of reference comprise reviewing WTDC resolutions, examining their number and subject matter, and considering streamlining, to avoid repetitions and duplication with the Resolutions of the Plenipotentiary Conference. This is in addition to aligning the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) thematic priorities, proposed regional initiatives and proposed study group questions, taking into account proposals of ITU-D Study Groups, outcomes of the Regional Preparatory Meetings for WTDC-21, relating to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and taking into consideration the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Action Lines for which ITU has lead responsibility.
 
TDAG-WG-RDTP is also responsible for proposing elements and making recommendations to ITU membership for the future draft Declaration, as well as reporting its outcomes to TDAG.
 
Established in 1865, ITU is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN), responsible for all matters related to ICTs, and is one of the oldest international organizations in operation.
