Egypt Partakes in WTO Workshop on ITA

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is remotely participating in a Workshop on the Information Technology Agreement (ITA), organized by the World Trade Organization (WTO) on September 16, in Geneva.
The workshop will discuss developments in ICT and examine how trade in ICT products has helped countries around the world combat COVID-19. It will also allow government officials to engage with the private sector and representatives of the IT industry on trade covered by the ITA and how the Agreement is used as a development tool.
The workshop will allow participants to share experiences and examine how ICT has brought about socio-economic benefits, opportunities and challenges in relation to the digitalization of the global economy. In addition, the workshop will discuss the prospects and challenges for further expansion of trade in ICT products and participation in the Agreement and possible future work on non-tariff barriers.
Established in 1995, the WTO is the world's largest international economic organization, with 164 Member States representing over 96% of global trade and global GDP. The overall objective of the WTO is to help its members use trade as a means to raise living standards, create jobs and improve people’s lives.
