ITIDA, IBM Co-organize AAL Cup 2021
The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is organizing the third edition of the African App Launchpad (AAL) Cup competition in collaboration with IBM. Registration for startups and entrepreneurs is open until the end of October.
The competition is organized by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) of ITIDA, as part of the AAL presidential initiative. It aims to upskill 10,000 young Egyptians and Africans and support the formation of 100 African startups specializing in digital application and game development.
The competition is in two tracks: App Development and Game Development. Winners will receive cash prizes of total $72,000 USD, offered by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).
The third and final edition of AAL Cup builds on the initiative’s success in training over 10,000 young Africans and supporting over 75 African startups from 22 African countries. The initiative aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, create jobs, boost economic growth, and bring African youth together. AAL is also aimed at developing innovative solutions to the challenges facing growth, sustainability and prosperity goals in African, as well as raising awareness of the challenges facing the technology community in different African countries.
IBM and ITIDA will deliver professional training in entrepreneurship and technical training in data analysis and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the startups applying for the competition. In addition, IBM will help select the best applicants, provide the selected with support and technical consultation and grant them access to its technology platforms and programs such as Startup with IBM.
According to the competition schedule and terms, the call for applications is open until October 31. For the final stage of the competition, the top-performing 50 startups will get to pitch their innovative ideas and business projects to a jury. The top three participants in each track will then be announced.
