Egypt Joins IIOT as Regular Member

Egypt has officially joined the International Informatics Olympiad in Teams (IIOT) as Regular Member.

IIOT aims to encourage high school students to focus on informatics, programming and problem-solving skills. It also seeks to promote teamwork spirit to enhance knowledge and experience exchange among youngsters who share the same interests and qualifications, as participants join in teams.

A flagship computer science competition that targets high school students, IIOT is just like the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), except those problems in IIOT are solved in four-member teams. The first edition of IIOT kicked off in 2010 in Italy with seven participating teams. Currently, more than 2,250 contestants in Italy alone compete to reach the international finals.

IIOT Egypt finals is held on November 15 through four online competitions organized over the course of four month. The top 50 teams will be selected to participate in the local finals, on 25 February 2022, and the winning team will represent Egypt in the international finals, held in May 2022 in Italy. The local competition is organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).
