Egypt Partakes in ITU Digital World 2021

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is participating in a session titled “Greening our own house: addressing the environmental footprint of digital technologies,” on November 24, as part of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Digital World 2021, held virtually from September to December 2021.
The session will discuss the role of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and robotics, in enabling governments to tackle sustainability and climate change issues, as well as the negative environmental impact of digital technologies, including the issue of e-waste.
ITU Digital World is an international platform for the ICT industry. It brings together leading stakeholders from governments, regulators, large companies, and Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to share knowledge, explore the latest trends in technology, policy and strategy, network and exhibit.
The ITU was established in 1865. It is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN), responsible for all matters related to ICTs, and is one of the oldest international organizations in operation.
