Egypt Partakes in ITU-UNESCO Regional Digital Inclusion Week for Arab States 2021

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), is participating as a governmental partner in the Regional Digital Inclusion Week for the Arab States. The Week is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on November 28- December 2, under the theme “Ensuring equity and inclusivity in all that we do: Data, Platforms and Policies.”

MCIT participation in the Digital Inclusion Week includes organizing several events and webinars, including the Information Technology Institute (ITI) e-ICT platform to reach out untapped talents (Mahara-Tech) showcase, a session on "Platforms for ensuring equity and inclusivity", and an event titled “Digital Inclusion: The Journey from digital awareness to digital culture in rural villages”. This is in addition to a webinar and roundtable discussion on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Arab States: Developing a Common Arab AI Strategy;” and another event titled “Assistive Technology and the Digital Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).”

The Week will seek to enlarge the space for participation and to enhance individual and societal well-being and the attainment of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by leveraging ICT as an enabler. The Week will focus on initiatives in this space, with a view to sharing case studies and experiences, identifying best practices and contributing to the adoption and development of more effective policies.

The Digital Inclusion Week will bring together governments, other UN and intergovernmental bodies, civil society, academia, healthcare professionals, the private sector and citizens for advancing digital inclusion efforts. The Regional Digital Inclusion Week is an opportunity to raise awareness, strengthen collaboration amongst stakeholders and advance efforts across the Arab region.
