The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) received a delegation from the Ivorian Centre of Economics and Social Sciences (CIRES) at MCIT headquarters in Smart Village, on November 29-30, in the presence of the Ivorian Ambassador to Egypt. The delegation was headed by the Deputy Director of CIRES, the center in charge of conducting a preliminary feasibility study and developing a vision for building a smart city in Côte d'Ivoire. The visit comes as CIRES seeks to explore the Egyptian experience in the field of smart cities.
The visit started off with a meeting with the Deputy ICT Minister for Infrastructure Raafat Hindy. The meeting addressed the depth of ties between Egypt and Côte d'Ivoire and the 2019 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by MCIT and the Ivorian Ministry of Digital Economy and Post, for cooperation in digital transformation, cybersecurity, technology parks, capacity-building and innovation. Moreover, the meeting included a presentation on the types of smart cities in Egypt and discussed the sustainable and human development model implemented by MCIT.
The delegation had a tour inside Smart Village and held in-depth meeting, including Smart Villages Company (SVC), the Applied Innovation Center (AIC), the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), MCIT Data Center, and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The meetings aimed to form a comprehensive picture of the establishment and operation of Smart Village within different parameters.
