Egypt Partakes in Ministerial Roundtable Forum on African Telecom/ICT Day 2021

Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and information Technology (MCIT), is participating in the Ministerial Roundtable Forum organized by the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) to celebrate the 44th African Telecom/ICT Day, on December 7, under the theme “Digital Skills Development for Africa’s Digital Transformation.”

The African Telecom/ICT Day is celebrated every year on December 7 to commemorate the establishment of ATU. This year’s theme primarily stems from the widely agreed notion on the urgent need for Africa to equip and prepare its citizens with the right digital skills for the uptake of emerging technologies such as the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) for the socio-economic benefit of the continent. The theme is also consistent with Pillar 4 of the ATU 2019-2022 Strategic Plan on the promotion of innovation, talent, and e-skills development.

The Forum will bring together ICT policy makers and regulators from ATU Member States to discuss and showcase the steps they are undertaking to build the digital skills of their population and inspire the use of ICTs.

Founded in 1977, ATU is a specialized agency of the African Union (AU) in the field of telecommunications. ATU provides a forum for stakeholders involved in ICT to formulate effective policies and strategies aimed at improving access to information infrastructure and ICT services.
